Position Title: Program Manager
Location: Carson Valley, Nevada
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range: $60,000–$88,000 annually
Organizational Overview
Austin’s House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing emergency shelter and compassionate care for children in crisis throughout Northern Nevada. We offer a safe, stable, and trauma-informed environment where children can heal, grow, and feel supported while awaiting permanent placement.
Position Summary
The Program Manager provides strategic, operational, and administrative leadership for Austin’s House programs and services. This role oversees day-to-day program operations, staff supervision, compliance, and quality assurance while ensuring services remain mission-aligned, trauma-informed, and responsive to the needs of children and families.
As a member of the leadership team, the Program Manager plays a critical role in shaping organizational culture, strengthening systems, and supporting long-term sustainability through thoughtful program oversight and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Operations
- Oversee daily operations of all programmatic services to ensure safety, consistency, and quality of care.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs that align with Austin’s House’s mission, values, and strategic goals.
- Establish program goals, performance measures, and outcomes tracking to support continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, reporting, and data systems related to program activities.
Staff Supervision & Development
- Provide direct supervision and support to frontline program staff.
- Lead hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective action when needed.
- Foster a positive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based workplace culture that supports collaboration and professional growth.
- Ensure adequate staffing coverage and coordinate schedules across all shifts.
Compliance, Licensing & Quality Assurance
- Ensure programs meet all contractual obligations and state, federal, and local licensing requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Oversee incident reporting, investigations, corrective action plans, and risk-management practices.
- Serve as a point of contact for auditors, inspectors, and government partners.
Budget & Resource Management
- Assist with development and oversight of program budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Monitor expenses, staffing levels, and resource allocation to ensure responsible fiscal stewardship.
- Support grant reporting, outcomes documentation, and funding compliance.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent Austin’s House with professionalism when engaging funders, partners, referral sources, and community stakeholders.
- Strengthen collaboration with schools, child welfare agencies, human services organizations, and government partners.
- Support outreach, advocacy, and donor engagement efforts as needed.
Strategic & Organizational Leadership
- Contribute to strategic planning, organizational priorities, and mission-focused initiatives.
- Identify service gaps and opportunities for program enhancement or new partnerships.
- Support organizational change efforts and promote a culture of accountability, compassion, and high-quality care.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, nonprofit management, human services, public administration, psychology, education, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in program coordination, program management, or a related leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff and supporting team development.
- Experience working with children or youth in settings such as childcare, education, social services, or similar environments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data systems.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to meet all Nevada licensing requirements, including fingerprint background checks, child abuse registry clearance, and possession of a valid Nevada driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in program leadership within nonprofit, child welfare, or human services settings.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, foster care systems, or youth-serving organizations.
- Experience working with state or county child welfare or human services agencies.
- Strong skills in team leadership, supervision, and staff development.
- Experience with regulatory compliance, licensing, and operational standards.
- Ability to remain calm and provide guidance during crisis situations.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus and valued, though not required.
