In 2025, Austin’s House gave 2,180 days of care to children in crisis. Thirty-three children stayed an average of 66 nights. That’s 2,180 days of making meals, giving rides, helping kids get ready for school, maintaining routines, and ensuring caring adults are always there.
It’s also 2,180 days of helping children feel a bit more normal during a very uncertain time.
A longer stay is more than just extra nights in a bed. It means birthdays, school days, homework, doctor visits, holidays, and all the daily moments of growing up. For kids at Austin’s House, these moments keep happening, no matter how long it takes to find their next home.

Donations to Austin’s House help provide the everyday essentials and around-the-clock care children need during times of crisis. This includes nutritious meals, clothing, personal hygiene items, transportation to school and appointments, educational supplies, recreational activities and a safe, nurturing place to stay.
Community contributions also help support the trained caregivers who are there 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whether one child or several children are staying at the shelter, Austin’s House must maintain the staffing and resources needed to provide consistent care.

Thanks to a generous commitment from the Wavedance Fund, eligible donations to Austin’s House’s 2026 Annual Appeal will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $25,000. That means a $50 contribution can become $100 in total support, helping the organization reach its $50,000 fundraising goal.
Donations received between October 1 and December 3, 2026, count toward the matching gift.

Every child’s circumstances are different, and the next step depends on their individual needs and the decisions made by their child welfare team.
Some children may be reunited with family members when it is safe and appropriate. Others transition into foster homes or other suitable long-term placements.
Throughout their stay, Austin’s House works closely with the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services and other placement agencies to ensure children’s needs are met while a safe, appropriate living arrangement is identified.
During this time, caregivers help maintain important routines, including school attendance, medical appointments, recreational activities and opportunities to maintain family connections when approved by the child’s caseworker.
By providing consistent care and a stable environment, Austin’s House helps children navigate an uncertain period while the professionals responsible for their placement work toward the next step.
